Kimwenza Farming Fundraiser

Help us raise the funds needed reach self sustainability for the orphan’s school, career training, and daily needs.

Our partner orphanage in Kimwenza, DRC is currently home to 76 orphaned children. It is not only an orphanage, but is also a non-profit that oversees and hosts vulnerable children from the street and young mothers in difficult situations. They facilitate family reunification, attempt to support needy families at risk of separation, and reintegrate children into the community.

In 2016, Live Beyond Words supporters provided this orphanage with potable water that not only impacted them, but also 1000 people in the surrounding community. You also provided the children of this orphanage with beds, mattresses, sheets, and mosquito nets. Thanks to your support and by God’s grace, 2017 marked the beginning of construction for a new six room school so children had safe place to learn and grow. In 2018 all six of the classrooms were completed. Also in 2018, construction began for a clean water well, as flooding destroyed the potable water system. In 2019, construction of the clean water well was completed – giving orphans, children, and the surrounding community accessible and sustainable clean water.

In 2019, we launched a farming project in Kimwenza. The goal of this years-long investment is to create a sustainable farm large enough to feed the children and provide income to account for other needs for the organization including teachers, medical care, and more. You helped provide the field workers training from Farming God’s Way where they learned practical farming skills alongside the Gospel and the beauty of God’s creation. The field workers saw their first successful harvest in early 2022.  This harvest is already allowing them to take steps toward self sustainability in feeding the children, buying essential medicines, and teaching the older children important life skills.

Now, we’re taking this project to the next level with investment in livestock.  This next phase of the agricultural project will provide high return on invested startup costs and will be a long term sustainable source of nutrition for the children, a source of income generation to cover operational cost for the school and orphanage, as well as a training opportunity for teaching incoming generating skills to older kids in the orphanage.  Partner with us today!
