Faith in Action – 2019 in Review
2019 was another great year! God moved in mighty ways!
Faith was put into action in awesome ways in 2019! Here are some of the things God did:
Medical Care for Kimwenza
Live Beyond Words connected the children at our partner orphanage in Kimwenza with a local doctor who has volunteered his time to see the children once a month. Many of the children were very sick. Through the doctors visits and medication and supplies provided by LBW donors, many of the children are recovering very well. The doctor is also training the nurses on site to provide better ongoing care for the children throughout the year.
A Clean Water Well for Kimwenza – Completed!
Also in 2019, construction was completed for a water well for Kimwenza. Flooding destroyed the previous potable water system, leaving children drawing dirty water from the river. The well includes a filtration system ensuring clean, safe, healthy water, along with solar powered energy and a back up generator so the children and the surrounding community don’t have to spend any time without clean water. Praise the Lord for his provision in this!
Agricultural Progress in Kimwenza
In May 2019, our partner orphanage in Kimwenza lost their garden. The garden was a major source of nutrition throughout the year for the kids. LBW was able to partner with donors to provide short term relief from the loss of food producing land by purchasing an emergency food supply locally. Our partner has since acquired new land for their garden but they are in need of a plan to make the new garden more successful. The LBW team had the opportunity to travel to DRC and meet with the farmers to gather information and work together to come up with a sustainable solution that could feed the children and supply income for the teachers and care givers.
Technology is Key!
Board Member Ryan worked with his employer, a large corporate retailer, to acquire 110 laptop computers to be donated to Mama Jacqueline’s computer lab. Ryan configured each of the computers so that they have all of the software the teachers will need to begin putting them to use.
Spreading the Gospel
At Live Beyond Words, it is our goal that these physical needs be served along with the good news of Jesus Christ. One awesome way we were able to do that this year was through sponsoring The Seed Company to do reoccuring bible story telling at our partner orphanage in Kimwenza.
