Faith in Action – 2020 in Review

2020 was a challenging year. God was still moving.

2020 was a challenging year. But God continued to MOVE in D.R. Congo:

Emergency Relief During COVID-19

COVID-19 turned the world upside down. In D.R. Congo, like many places in the world, businesses and schools shut down, making supplies hard to get. You helped provide food and sanitary supplies for the kids at our partner orphanage in Kimwenza right when they needed it most.

Farming God’s Way Training

Even in the midst of a pandemic, God provides. In 2020, we embarked on a long term farming partnership with our partner orphanage in Kimwenza that includes three stages of land development and crop production. Our partners asked for some on site training on how to best care for their land, so our amazing friends at Farming God’s Way spent several days on site teaching best practices of farming in D.R. Congo. These techniques will help them best care for the land, increase crop production, and ultimately point the glory to God for his amazing creation.

Tiny Houses

In Kinshasa, traffic and land accessibility pose great challenges for progress. Our wonderful partner Mama Jacquelin has a vision to create a God-honoring community in one of the poorest parts of the city. She plans to do this by turning some land she owns into a tool to lift families out of poverty. By hiring and training farmers and giving children access to education, she hopes to lift families out of poverty one at a time. To accomplish this, she needed some reasonable housing on her farmland. This year, you all helped contribute to the early stages of this vision by contributing to her tiny house project.

Delphin’s Story

We met Delphin after he was orphaned by his family. We met him as a sad, scared, sick 12 year old boy who had been taken to our partner orphanage in Kimwenza. God moved. He cares so deeply for his children – especially those who have been outcast. He led Nicole to share the Gospel with Delphin in a very intentional way. Delphin accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. They have since communicated regularly and our in-country friends continue to disciple him. Delphin has been reunified with his family and is receiving medication to manage his medical pain. Though his medical condition cannot be cured, he has found eternal hope in our Lord Jesus Christ!
